While I still swelter in the August Texas heat, my mind turns to Christmas. Only a little over 4 months away! Last year I wrapped red and white old fashioned bulbs around a column out front. My intent was for it to look like a candy cane but it didn’t really look the way I’d hoped. So this year I have decided a lit decorated swag would look better. I found some marked down to a steal on QVC and ordered them, along with some shatterproof ornaments. I’m going to make two, one for outside and one for the patio door frame inside the kitchen that leads to our back patio. Everything should be here tomorrow so it will be time to craft, yay!
Staci and I remodeled this house and moved in last December. Our intent was to eventually have a housewarming party which we never did. So this year I think we’ll have a Christmas party! I have already been pondering goodies, both savory and sweet…and booze, of course. Shortbread is always wonderful for Christmas! I’ve made it the last several years and taken it to work (I do NOT need shortbread in this house!). It never lasts long. And some kind of white chocolate peppermint bark because it’s my favorite. I think caprese skewers on rosemary sprigs for something savory. Rosemary is such a Christmas-y smell. And something with sage….chickpeas, maybe? And warm cheese puffs, yes!
Something neat and festive with margaritas too. Definitely dying some salt red. And maybe some cranberry floaters?
See? It feels cooler already. Hope you all have had a wonderful weekend! Poor Staci, I have hardly seen her at all. Ready for her call weekend to be over! Her mom is coming next weekend and I will share with you one of my favorite indulgent breakfasts and I “stole” from a little breakfast dive in Kemah. As much as I loved theirs, I think I’ve got it beat now, stay tuned!
Happy reading, joyful cooking and spread the love!
