This weekend was not much of a cooking weekend. Too much stuff to do and it’s officially fall! 90+ degrees but fall nonetheless.
Our Aussie has been fascinated with something behind the neighbor’s wood pile which is against the fence we share. He has been trampling flowers and digging and barking. So we wanted to fix it in a way that wasn’t totally ghetto. With a circular saw and some shiplap we managed. It doesn’t look awesome but it’s not really noticeable either so that’s good. We’re hopefully replacing the fence with an 8 ft one next spring anyway. We spend a lot of time outside and have some nosy neighbors, one creeper in particular. Ew.
So that pretty much wiped out yesterday. Today I tackled 2 lengthy projects AND slow cooked some ribs AND whipped up mom’s potato salad. Stick a fork in me!
I’ve been restoring old family photos of Staci’s and my families. I have about 15 or so done, ordered and on beadboard so I bought some frames this weekend and officially started the family wall. Lots of measuring and leveling but it looks great and has room to grow.
After that was finished, I tackled the fall decorations. We bought some extra because this house is much bigger than the one we were in last fall. The common areas are decked out nicely but I’ll need to grab some more for the other rooms and bathrooms. It was fun and everything looks like there should be a bite in the air. However it’s hot and sticky. A girl can dream. We even bought a clay fire pit in hopes the air might be chilly when my parents visit next month. (fingers crossed)
What DIDN’T get done: second Christmas swag and recipes uploaded. I’m pretty sure this means I need tomorrow off. I’m also pretty sure that’s not going to happen. The Cowboys game is delayed due to weather so I do believe I’m off to slip into a semi-comatose state until the weather passes. Until next weekend my lovies….
Happy reading, joyful cooking (and decorating!) and spread the love!
